I watched finished Nodame Cantabile! It's a good and funny show, but if u're gonna watch, please bear in mind the drama is an adaptation from anime (as I found out half way thru) and so there're some weird and funny things which happen in anime and not in real life. (Like the violence haha!)
For this show, I preferred the parts about the guy and the girl haha! You gotta admit he's super cute though! But I don't think he can act much. Watching the behind the scenes is funny tho! And you find out how they film those parts where she flies! VERY funnnyy! But I'm a more down to earth person, less anime haha. For shows like Engine, I like the show itself, not the lovey parts haha.
Well, the best music show I would say is perhaps Swing Girls? Or the Pianist. I prefer real ones haha. And well, a show being a show, it makes life seem to simple. Practise? And you can do it. To me, truth is, it takes a good teacher (good basics) plus talent to make it in the music world. Besides practise. And I wonder how those Conducting competitions work. To me, all the conductors make the most difference through everyday pracs. Only experience I had where a conductor made such a world of difference was NTU's trip to japan, where we were conducted by tohru takahashi. For the first time, I realised what it means by a good conductor haha!
But it's true that as a conductor u gotta respect the ppl. It's always a two-way street isnt it? Learnt that ever since in tkgs. Ironic, how the conductor that I've no respect for is a Japanese. What I love most about lin sheng is how he really respects every single one of us, and that's why we respect him too. And that's why tjband magic comes from :)
But it's a nice show, where all the various background music and stuffs they use are familiar tunes! Haha. But it struck me, with the oboe concerto and so much rhapsody in blue, plus the word cantabile. I went to check the score we discarded for tj alumni concert -- Classic Cantabile. And I concluded it's a collection of songs from this show! How sad I didn't watch it earlier and all now that we have shelved that score haha. But I wouldn't wanna play it anyway. When the oboe part comes in I always wanna laugh cuz it's so NOT fitting. And no wonder the whole piece is splattered with rhapsody in blue cuz in the show it's everywhere haha.
In reality, life's not so easy haha. But it was nice :)
I'm a little tired from all the runs and swim. I feel half dead like Nodame when she looks half dead.
Be careful what you wish for! Today, as I headed to kallang pool, I was thinking how sian, no company. Turns out, the cedar girls were there and I had too much company. They occupied the whole pool! Thank goodness the lifeguard was nice and I think he talked to them and they left my favourite lane (3) empty! And so sets were pretty okay since I had company of this guy whose pace was a litttleee slower than mine. So when I was crawling our pace matched. So up and down up and down. BUT I don't like ppl to eat into my lane. I was originally swimming on lane 3 on the right. But cuz he kept swimming so close (Lane 4's EMPTY!) i ended up on lane 3 left. Irritating.
So, life's pretty much been eat sleep run swim watch show prac clarinet. Barne's fourth symphony's second movt is KILLING ME! It's rather impossible.
Oh, half way through nodame there was new world symphony. I almost had a heart attack and puke blood hahhahhaha.
kidding.
oh, but the horrors.
Last sem I majored in sports and music and minor-ed in studies. This sem, I think I'll be majoring in studies, minor-ing in sports and maybe music elective. Or maybe double minor in sports and music.
