Took out my ibm laptop to clear the stuffs so I can pass it to daddy later and so decided to blog a few words on this nice keyboard before I bid it a sad goodbye. Well, i think I've had this laptop since uh sec4? or end of j1... well tt's pretty long like say 3 years.. or more. It has served me v well! I like it. Well, like all ibm laptops, they say it's fit to go for war. And haha yeah I'd agree tt it's true cuz it's so sturdy and hardy even up till now. And I really like tt red thingy in the middle altho ppl dun like it i dunno why. It's the most useful thing ever. ur hands just remain at the keyboard all throughout! I like this keyboard alot though. I think i'll never tire from typing on this. i think i'll try out the typing tests here. bet i can type better and faster here! ahaa. okay all the best my dearest laptop. It's always hard to let go of things yeah. But thanks for being such a great companion. Altho ur insides r so lousy tt's why u're so slow. Haha. okay cheers :)
Nothing beats my tjband friends! :)
Down in the dumps today as I couldn't swim. Haven't been able to swim. Lost the feeling of floating across the water and highly doubt the effectiveness of everything :(
Band test was okay except that I played some mistakes :( I think I really like to go for these sort of clarinet tests. I like people to hear me play. (NOT hear me practise cuz I sound disgusting) Like Wendy was saying, how often do you get to go on stage to perform on the clarinet solo with everyone listening to you. Hmmmm. GOod point. But how often does that happen on the piano too haha. BUt nah no thanks. I may be giving up the chance of a lifetime to play but yup I am giving it up!
Was feeling very sulky and lazy to go for the run. But went ANYway... The attempt to run hills failed miserably with me running into the SRC instead to seek solace on the track due to the overwhelming pollution coming from the exhaust of the big friendly buses. So I totalled a 40mins of track, and one round around school.
Have been pretty bored all alone here and there. I mean, duh. I talk to myself most of the time! Starting of the run at around NIE I was already like, dots I can't move on, I'm really so unmotivated, and I've NO ONE to run with, I really CANT run anymore and started to talk to God about it, then while I was running up the terrible hill, choking on exhaust, this guy appeared behind me and was running up too. I guess he must've been going at a rather fast pace to catch up with me (altho I was crawling) cuz I didn't see anyone anywhere when I started off. And it's pretty amazing cuz running the route often enough, u know it's rare for somebody to be running the same route, same direction, same place, unless you started out sometime together. So he was going at a faster pace, and I decided to keep up, and amazingly I ran faster than him! And he followed behind for some time all the way till nbs area where he disappeared. I was reallyyy thankful for that short span of company though. What a miracle.
The exhaust made me give up on ideas for 2 rounds and I ran to the track, only to find alot of activity going on, with this group of China people having some relay competition on the track. Surprisingly met Pingwei there. (At long last lols, I confirm plus chop know who's he alr haa) He was one of the ppl helping out at that event. The reply to my qn of "what event is this?" was "i dunno? just helping out". haa what a joke. Grass running is really quite bad. So tiring.
Ended up having a VERY good run tho :) The weather these days have been lovely with VERY beautiful sunsets! So please, if you're in Singapore, don't be inside at 5-7pm. The weather out there is lovely! Many ppl and activities going on in SRC. So I was pretty occupied. Ran on the outer-most lane. After running for what seemed like forever, I looked at my watch and it said 9mins passed. THe quote 'Life is short. Running makes it seem longer' has never been so apt. Numbers can be your friend at times like this -- I started counting rounds.
Girls touch rugby were training. Angela waved hi! Got to know her during astro elective during the hols, one of liling's friends! Guoxin was like "WHY do I always see u at the track" haha. The last few rounds, this old guy ran out from the tennis courts area and started running. Apparently our pace was like totally in sync. And since I've already been running for 50mins leisurely, decided to push it a little and he kept up! But his pace was abit of fast slow, but for about 3-4 rounds I kept it at a pretty faster pace than usual and it was like tHat. Pretty interesting. To find someone whose pace is the same and who seems comfortable at that pace too! Coolbeans.
I ran back to hall via the back way. BUt I'm still worried. 1hr to 5hrs is aLOt of difference :(
But seriously, I mean so much running company in one day? When I've been running so much in the past few days and only seeing Marty. Miracles do happen when you pray to God and nothing too small is considered trival such as running company for Him to listen to! :)
It was a pretty good run in the end, seeing how I lapped Buddhist society girl and Canbera CSC Swim team girl countless times. (The shirts they were wearing) haha.
And yes, the SAF exercise is to see how they can turn a road into a runway. Read about it in the papers. So there goes my cycling these days. But I think I'll cycle more next week since I'll be cutting down running nearing the days of stan chart. *gulps*
I wanna do a proper one, like what marcus said. (Oh yes, and I haven't talked to him for like the longest of times so it was nice to chat a little, except the line was cut off twice, once cuz he was in the mrt, another when my hp batt died) But seeing how unprepared I am, sighhhhhhhh. I dun wanna do it again though :( SO looks like too bad, just go for it and attempt to finish! Yes, I want the shirt :)
POST EXAM ACTIVITIES!
And so, half of my uni life has ended! Terribleeee. Came back to hall and played frisbee with lols and guanhim. Or more like, guanhim taught us how to throw a frisbee. Exploring the bushes along the side of block 70 was also part of our 1hr exercise. After which I swam and ate very nice maggie noodles with korean soup at can13 and watched short films at adm for the next 2 hours. Some were really pretty interesting!
Saturday was rather amazing. I had time to spend slacking around, FOR ONCE! :) Played a clarinet too! The same one I used for our alumni concert recently :) Had rojak for dinner yuM!
Slack Sunday with only 9 students this week! J8-ed afterwards, and mom cooked maggie noodles. So I ate it, like again.
Monday swam at kallang, where I met this swimmer (self conclusion he's a swimmer) who swam one lap with like average of 33 strokes! That's the last lap of the 200IMs which he was doing. I was, amazed.
Tuesday, I ran at SRC track. The weather these days in the evenings have been utterly lovely. Witnessed a most amazingly beautiful sunset which turned the clouds all red/pink/breathtaking. To top it off, there was a short rainbow in the sky too. Lovely! :) I met marty again. And did I mention how glorious it is to jump into the pool after a long run? The muscles in the legs, feel like BLISS.
Wednesday (ie today) I cycled in the morn for the first time alone out to the normal place sis brings me to. The weather was again picturesque. The SAF were flying some weird looking contraptions which I suppose are some sort of practice planes for trainee pilots. Did I mention? The weather was utterly great! 2 make up students and a meeting at city hall. How amazingly funny, that I talked to Mark today and guess what, he's a marist-tjcian, and the many ppl he knows, I know too! Like jonathan, baowen, yiming. How funny really! A loong mrt ride back with novi.
It's raining, it's pouring, so it's time to sleep! Cuz the weather rocks socks :)
Sorry bored! =P
ACT CUTE!
Tying two makes me feel young!
Taken from some books Roderick lent me
It's inexpensive and requires minimal gear. You can run almost anytime and anywhere. And there is nothing like a good run to clear your mind and put life's problems into a more sane perspective.
It's like having an old friend that is always there when I need a lift in spirits. Once I get myself out the door, the world opens up, no matter how hemmed in or bummed out I might be feeling.
My heart gets stronger, my bone density increases, I burn a ton of caloires, and my aerobic capacity improves.
- Chi Running by Danny Dreyer
But I like this best, from Total Immersion by Terry Laughlin
In my opinion, swimming is more fun than anything else you can do with your clothes on. It feels great and, no matter how hard the workout, you're left so refreshed, so energized, that for the rest of the day no challenge seems too great.
Name one other workout that can do that. After running, I ache all day long and often into the next. Cycling is fun and is certainly fine exercise, but only as long as the sun's up and it's not cold or wet out. Weight training is excellent, but by the time I'm done, it's all I can do to carry my gym bag back to the car.
Swimming's different. I always feel better after my workout than I did before. Perhaps calling swimming "the ideal exercise" is a little strong, but it would be hard to find a better contender for the title. It makes your heart and lungs work more efficiently, enhances muscle strength and endurance, improves flexibility, and helps reduce stress. Yet swimming is easier on the joints than anything else that gets your heart rate up. And it's the only one that can legitimately make you feel weightless and free.
Swimming is about as injury-free as they come. Gone are the bone-jarring shocks of land sports, so gone too are the joint and back injuries that plague so many joggers and cyclists. The water is also kinder to your muscles. Its massaging effect and the steady, even resistance it provides eliminate much of the postworkout muscle soreness so common in land sports.
Overheating is also nearly impossible in swimming. Water conducts heat from the body twenty times better than air does, so you can train at much higher intensities without the dehydration and potential heat exhaustion common "ashore".
And swimming is an equal opportunity sport. Even if your weight, a physical handicap, or an injury would normally keep you out of action on land, you can probably swim. In fact, many land athletes use swimming to regain strenght and fitness after an injury, far sooner than they could by returning to their main sport.
This sport promotes joint mobility better than any other aerobic exericse. Regular swimmers have also been shown to have lower blood pressures, slower pulse rates, and much greater exercise tolerance than other people their age.
On top of all this, aerobic benefits of swimming one mile are equal to those of running four miles!
SWIMMING ROCKS. I so totally agree it's the best form of exericise left right up down.
Legs are starting a litttleeeee to protest from 1hr runs everyday, or almost.
How to run 5hrs lidat!
You know what I wanna do?
I wanna get on an airplane, and fly! fly fly fly!
To somewhere nice and far away.
Don't you like the feeling of going onto airplanes?
Don't you like the feeling of being in another country?
i LOOVVVVEeeeee it!
It's not even a year, and I'm missing it already.
I wanna go on a holiday.
I wanna explore places, walk around,
basically have time to do nonsense.
Like pure nonsense.
With not a worry.
Hmmmmmmm.
Anybody wanna sponsor me a trip?
I might have mentioned this before, but as a kid I didn't understand how come adults couldn't understand how we think. And so, I made a promise to myself to not be like those irritating adults, and remember how it feels like to think and be like a child. Well, since I was living it everyday, such a thing didn't seem difficult to remember. But I guess somewhere along the way, I just didn't bother to remember and couldn't quite care less.
So I've been in awe of children book writers. How could they think in that way! Most of all Enid Blyton. I loved her books when I was young. Especially those stories about the farway tree :)
But my sis found this article about Enid Blyton:

UPDATES!
SCHOOL HAS ENDED! That concludes half of my university life. AB214 presentation didn't go well at all :( I get the panicks. And you know u're facing doom and gloom when u feel the effects of a seeing a sea of unfriendly faces get to you :(
But nvm. Subsequently spent 1hr15mins travelling around ntu. sigh. Got to the pool for a short half hour swim. But at least I learnt how to swim using high elbow properly. Hope I pull more water now!
I drove home! After not driving for 2 weeks haha. I think I can only drive on the PIE from jalan bahar to home. Straight all the way! (I almost banged into a car tho if not for dad telling me) Scaryyyyy.
I only ran 9.2km, the half of bishan park. But I really don't like to swim and run in the same day. Muscles not too friendly here. Lack of sleep, lack of food, lack of water, achy muscles = terrible run.
On a funnier note, abrsm called me, informing me i'm highest scorer for gr5 clarinet exam and invited me to play at the concert. Like ha-ha-ha. I don't even know where the scores went to already. But I don't think I wanna go. So embarassing.
OKAYdokes, time to continue making my notes! exams exams urgh!
Ups and downs. A little better.
I ran 3 rounds around school on Tuesday. A bit mad I would say. At the 3rd round legs were like starting to protest a little. I met this guy at the same two places, 4 times while going around school. I bet he's running stan chart too.
The weather these days have been very nice. And staying alone is very nice too.
Excel test was fine. Except for the vlookup haha! So dots. Why would anyone do vlookup when u can just copy paste! But I guess learning all these excel stuffs is useful :) Now for the exams!
Been taking this typing test.... very fun. And I guess I'm like very bo liao.
My best record thus far.
105 words
Today was an interesting day. I slept at 2am+ and so really refused to wake up until like 8am, when I've 8.30 class. But like who cares. So I went for class, reaching only like 7mins late. Not bad. And used my laptop to do ab214.
After which I headed to the swimming pool. It was a hot swim. Havent swam since tuesday. Not good, not good at all. I always see mr yum there. This weird china guy talked to me. Said my strokes very nice. (puke blood uh!) And he's some govt guy from china, here to study some one year prog to do with governmental politics stuffs or what not. Chinese not so good here uh haha! And they have some inter-class competition in 10days so he asked me see him swim a little and give some tips. And he even went on to tell me his name. And how to write it. Like how each character came from some famous long ago person. And like which part of china's he's from and which province it belongs to and about how many provinces there are in china and what's the place he's from is special and well known for etc. like WHO CARES. really felt like i'm in some chinese class way back in sec school. so i wasted like 30mins of my time with alot of fake laughter. like ha-ha-ha.
so anw, i went to can2 to eat. and saw gen n frens. and the funny thing was while i was lining up for the normal yu pian tang, i turned ard, (was checking on my seat often cuz i left my bag with my precious laptop there and the canteen was abit crowded. lunchtime) n saw roderick behind! haha. how coincidental. so he was here for lunch too. and he was nice n sat w me! so yay. these days been having company when i eat my yupiantang.
and sis came back! cuz have class.
very sleeep, tired too, but at least a little happier :)
oh and it seems like my last baby tooth is SHAKY! time to visit the dentist after exams. hopefully it remains there till then. i don't wanna be bogay! hope there's an adult tooth growing under. but it feels so, like long ago, like when was the last time u had a shaky tooth? the feeling is like, so primary school! I feel, young.
TIME TO STUDY!
After exams, it'll be loads of activities again! I think I'm getting used to this, and enjoying it alot! 2 concerts, 2 camps (hmmm maybe?), 1 marathon, NAAT activities, loads of trainings, piano teaching, etc etc! :)
It'll be great if we could play abba gold and gr selections. I think abba gold is really nice. I dunno why some ppl dont like it. But I guess, music is subjective. Abba really brings back alot of memories. Like making me laugh at that part, where I imagine Bernard's little jump for our stageband dance. And the ending part of abba reminds me of the nicest concert i've ever been to, prelude 24, where they ended off the best concert with abba.
oh yes, didnt do osim in the end. bad mix of conditions. 1) i got my thing like 1st day 2) it was raining the entire night, and morn, n drizzling during the actual thing. and so i heard the swim was reduced to like 200m?! haha.
been wanting to scan and upload such pics for sometime. and since i handwrote my tuition students' answers and scanned i decided to waste sometime and do this. yes, i wasted alot of time haha!
here are my twin hammies! fudge and float. they died long ago. survived in my sec school days. i got them free, from someone who passed them to mr peh and he couldnt take them, and xuemin couldnt, so i did, much to my mom's horror. they were the sweetest things ever. really friendly from the first time i saw them. such that i took the risk of bringing them home.
i really like the house pic! aren't they sweeeet? that's them, before they grew up and started fighting and i had to separate them.
cheeky chubby cheeks chan! my first hamster. given by julia, my swimming fren. one day, chubby came home in a shoebox, after much worrying on 142 (as sis n me came back from training at tpy) tt my mom will scream her head off. well, he spent the night chewing through the cardbox we put him in. and the next day, i went to buy a cage.
okay, this is a funny pic. i must show this to pamela some day! apparently, tt day i dunno why the topic of cactuses came around, and i said: "why would anyone wanna keep cactuses! so pointless!" and at the moment i said that, pamela said she has cactuses. OOPS! hahhaa! but yes, i did tell her i used to keep them too! tt's my sis long ago, me at my table doing my work, n tt's my cupboard, as of last time. everything's still the same. furniture i mean. the insides have changed quite abit, although the top 2 shelves look uh the same, except now have more stuffs stuffed in.
top right is the view from my house kitchen window! nice isn't it! the field is SAJC's field, and behind is tpy! bottom right is the view from the track and kallang river. so i always run along this track. left are pictures of playgrounds! yes, i went around taking pictures of playgrounds. the bottom left is the one near my house! i liked it alot! all the kids always climb on top. quite scary. and can u see a yello colour thing behind, that's the wall which i like to climb! such a fun playground, a pity, such things are gone these days, replaced by boring playgrounds. but this's already renovated with the soft spongy ground type of thing. i like sand playgrounds. they feel more long ago. and why i was taking them was for my sec1 art work. yes. art? playgrounds? i had to take pictures, develop a million motifs, and then do some art thing with it. art was the subject which made me burn the most midnight oil and shed the most tears (cuz i couldnt finish it on time). now understand why those 2 years of art is something i wouldnt forget so soon? haha.
that's me, during pri6, st margaret's pri sch swimming meet at i cant rem which pool. yes, the blue cap one is me. the same tyr cap. which i tore recently. now, WHY isit, my slow reaction time started since long ago! it's always like that. everyone's in the water and off the blocks except me. this year's ivp is like REALLY obvious. the bottom left, there're 2 yellow cap blue swim suit ppl. that's sheeren osman and cheryl ip. both training at sasa. together, the 3 of us are the only ppl who train so 1st 2nd 3rd just rotated between us 3. not surprisingly, i lost for freestyle but got 1st for breast. haha. and that's me on the top deck of the double decker bed at home in pri6. cap and goggles lines!
that's me, heavy makeup, in kindergarten. performance! top right is with sis! look at her in a dress! image like doesnt fit at all! i realise alot of pics, i always nv smile!
top left is with my bro, look at the specs!! bottom left is with my sis. i like tt pic cuz it's one where i look really happy. bottom right, that's the finale where all of us come out. im all the way to the left, front. i remembered i like the dolls item. and the indian dance one, the girls had very nice shiny glittery costumes where there're shiny beads attached. and while all the representatives from the various PA branches were waiting backstage during rehearsal and actual one to take our gifts for our school, we talked and made frens, and plucked the shiny thing from her clothes. YES, we actually did that. but she gave it to us.
that's our angklong ensemble and me playing the xylophone. i played an extra note. i remember. and the top right is from another performance. the chinese fishermen one. i remembered taking tt pic. we had to assemble outside and it was DAMN HOT. especially in tt clothes, all covered up. and the wooden basket had alot of splinters which got into our hands during rehearsal last time. hurt alot. and the fake plastic fishes!
this is another concert, at st andrews. where i had to put this flower thingy around mr andy gan's neck and lead him by the hand through the crowd where everyone else is suppose to form 2 rows and clap. and then make a speech. in english AND chinese. imagine! i still have the speech script. for the chinese one, i listened to my teacher's taped voice and memorised! and there's this newsletter where i appeared inside and they said something like 'chan siew mei, never spoken a word of chinese, but blahblahblah', something along the lines of delivered a very fluent speech in chinese. hahahhaha! some things never change uh.
the four of us, i only remember the one on my right, belicious, my kindergarten best friend whom i've lost touch with ever since long ago. yup, she was my one and only bestest fren in kindergarten!
this is long ago, top right is me in kindergarten, sitting on a motorbike, at the fire engine building. we had a visit there. the rest is in nursery, in church! and the guy there, he sat in front of me during service today. haha i think he cant remember me. so funny. the first person whom i know shares the same bday as me and celebrated together bdays when i was youngyoung like this!
okay if anyone got through this entire nonsense post, they're amazing.
cheers! i didnt do any work this weekend, but solved some a level qns, felt a little smarter, and played tons of piano, for my own enjoyment. (including loads of anime -- final fantasy, and i played the entire book of phantom! like watching the show lidat haha, if u follow the words)
okay my sis koped chocolate buns from osim! i havent eaten them since ancient million years ago. those were the days of stageband, late nights, nel gossip and CHOCOLATE BUNS. and the osim tri shirt is amazingly UGLY.
okay gdnight.
