Some random pics on the passing days.
This is my poor little primary 2 kid, who fell from the double decker bed while trying to wake his older brother up who then kicked him in his sleep! The litttleee hand in the cast trying to play running notes and turning. I spared him but not doing scales today haha.
My wonderful first attempt at parking the van all on my own! Good isn't it!
Cute little lilypads at Botanical Gardens when we cycled there that day just for a cycling expedition and to say hi to the bi team! I think lilypads are such cute stuffs, and the only thing missing is a froggie on it.
Mok actually has dory and neemo in his house!
and his dog
the day my sis cracked the egg and out came two eggyolks!
believe it anot, this is a SOYA BEAN TART. it tasted, really weird.
nice super cute n ultra delicious muffins! courtesy of wendy, who's some staff from my company who went for maternity leave! Baby's almost coming to one month alr I think! :)
FIVE MORE DAYS!
And so our plans to take off failed when Amerlyn said: "oh no we organised a farewell lunch for u all on friday!" :( :( :(
There goes, FIVE more full days sobs sobs sobs :(
Saturday was a sad sad day cuz I had no ride :(
And swimming training left me really very siann.
For many reasons. Ayeeee.
Had 3 kids in the afternoon where I threw my temper at Hannah. Really couldn't take it and just kp-ed her.
Church at PL was good! Pastor Wilson preached an interesting sermon. Although this month is family month and all the sermons are like family-oriented which left me feeling very siann, but still it was interesting yesterday's. He preached from Genesis 3, about the serpent tempting Eve. Let me just put this down.
How, in Genesis, the Hebrew text uses the Hebrew word "Yahweh" which refers to God as the Creator. But when the serpent spoke to Eve, it used the another word which just means a divine being. The start of this craftiness into luring Eve into sin. And when she replied the serpent, she used the word divine being as well.
It's true that the fruit makes one know about the knowledge of good and evil, but the serpent did not finish the story. By knowing good and evil, death comes in the picture, and we will die. The serpent painted God as a selfish one, one who seems to be afraid that we will overpower him or something. But of course, us knowing good and evil was never in God's plans for us. This made me think abt the saying "ignorance is bliss" haa.
Another funny thing was, the serpent said in verse 4 that 'you will be like God'. But the thing is, God created us in His image, we were created to BE LIKE GOD. We were created to reflect His glory. So we didnt need to eat it just to be like Him!
And also altho it was Eve who had this whole conversation, Adam was with her all the while and probably gave his approval/never stopped the conversation! And how when God came to find them in the garden that day (He came to fellowship with them everyday) they just passed the blame to the next person, without even feeling sorry for sinning. How, human, this is.
The passage, courtesy of biblegateway.com,
Genesis chapter 3
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"
2 The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' "
4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the LORD God called to the man, "Where are you?"
10 He answered, "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid."
11 And he said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?"
12 The man said, "The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it."
13 Then the LORD God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?"
The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate."
Anyway after service, headed over to Pasir Ris, where we went for Edmund's 21st party! I ate alot. Good to meet up with everyone again! :)
Home sweet home, late again.
Today, after teaching, I went to nus to cycle some hills. It wasn't that bad as I thought it would be, and I could've gone for more actually. But just for a few seconds after the hardcore pushing, the lactic acid has never been this bad before. Like even after sprinting the 400m and for the first time felt butt muscles in use for running, it never felt like THIS.
Hope I can ride faster after this! More sessions!
And then yummy yummy pasta dinner cooked by mok n sis. Like yummy yummy slurp! Except tt my stomach was kinda small so I was uber full! But super yummmmmyyyyyyyyyyy
SIgh work tmr :( And then the last run.
See somehow it's somewhere in the subconscious, and I guessed as much :(
Bishan stadium having AYG! I think the track will be interestingly crowded this week! :)
Maybe I should watch some events, to get inspiration of sorts.
Yesterday, I went to the flyer with the swim team! Total of 10 of us in the end! Yanni me Rod Weize Xianrong Desmond Bud Yiming Alex Amanda! Well I must say I did have fun :) When I decided to join them, I had already given up the idea of watching sunset on the flyer haa. I guess lights would be pretty nice too.
I kinda like that place, cuz it reminds me of races. Good cuz I like the atmosphere of races. Bad cuz I'm always usually dying at that point cuz the end is so near yet so far haa.
I caught some band music. Dunno if it's playing through PA system or it's SAF Band or something prep for NDP nearby. It suddenly made me miss band like mad. Like, a lot a lot a lot.
It was nice, just being out there. I just like the feeling a lot. And I guess sunsets would be left to lower pierce reservoir. Been going there pretty often recently, if it's only just for a short while. To catch the remains of the sunset usually abt 7.10pm like that. (Can't seem to reach there any earlier!) I fell in love with sunsets there. I just love reaching there, with the sudden stillness and peacefulness the moment you hit the place. It's so still and makes one feel so at peace. Staring at the sky turning from bright to orange to red. Looking at the sun's rays. Really beautiful. Brings me right into another world. I wanna explore the rolling hills and park altho it looks like a small one. Will go after PA ends someday :) And catch the entire sunset this time. Many thanks to Leewei for intro-ing me to that awesome place :)
We ate Popeye's while waiting for everyone to reach! Only ate there a few few times when I'm at the airport about to fly off to here n there and usually only eat the sides cuz uhhh poor. Chicken is not bad and yup mash potato is niceeee!
Aye, the flyer ride made me think about the fear of heights. I dunno. The capsule felt safe to me I guess. Like just as long as the whole capsule doesnt start jumping around it's safe haha. But I guess when u look down and think about falling then it gets scary. But for me, I know I'll get to heaven haha so no fear there :)
But it was fun cuz we had the entire capsule to ourselves! And Yiming figured out how we get to the top without turning upside down. And we could see NDP rehearsal going on at the same time! So all in all it was pretty cool. Half an hr ride is really fast actually. And it got quite boring towards the end. Saw some really cute stuff at the shop after that!
Only reached back ard 11+pm. Been out almost everyday this week till hrs which I'm not quite used to these days. Yes, bad for the health but good for the soul. I must say I had quite a good time catching up with everyone n all the crap from amanda n xianrong haa. All in all, I'm a happy girl. And I'm happy that I'm happy!
Pooooffffff, the month of June is coming to an end, just like THAT.
I'm wishing the trainings go on forever, and the working terminates with immediate effect!
Some random happenings at work,
Yesterday was a slow and boring day cuz my fellow intern and another senior colleague went out for external audit and I finished all the work given with 45mins to spare, so my snr said "haha just slack!". So I got more assignments from another snr but I finished it again with 20mins to spare (altho I was surfing net most of the time) and she told me after that, to just wait till I'm let off from work haa.
Funky duck marine installation! Some company issues sales invoices for such things. haa!
The funniest was, fellow intern and me were looking at this case where wow, there was a fire the previous year! And so the inventory lost to fire was a super big amount of $1million plus. Like almost their entire inventory was wiped out. We were joking about wow what a big fire it must be. Then, we found out, their inventory was "joss paper". HAHA. No wonder the fire so big.
SIX HALF MORE DAYS! :) six if I take off for course registration hoho.
So there was ATC on 7 June. I'll think twice about doing it again. Teamed up with lance, sam, si kuan to form Are You Scared 2. All the hard core sprinting past every team won us first place!
Yay we trashed all other teams. It was pretty alright. Although I had the easiest job in just trying to keep up. The others were very nice to me :) And God blessed us with excellent weather. The moment we came out from the trail areas and onto the concrete areas beside the expressway, it started pouring! Thank goodness for the shower, reminded me of sing bi. It was really refreshing and thanks to the rain I could run faster! And also to the brains of sam, he was like 'here put here, there this one, no other way round, THERE!' and we solved the fit the puzzle in like record time haha! :)
We ended the race about 11+am and waited till 3+pm before results were released. THanks very much to the ex-roomie who allowed us over to her hse in SK to wash up! Felt so nice and refreshed after that :) So I won a very chio timex watch! :)
Afterward we headed over to eat breakfast/lunch/dinner at Jack's place. 3 of our teams. Got to know the other 2 members of josh's group! Our whole table ate the exact same thing. Like 11 of us, eating the same thing. How funny. Cuz it was the cheapest heh.
One great weekend! :)
Monday I ached, Tuesday I swam, Wednesday morning I biked! 5am longhouse! And I almost died in the afternoon in the office. At night went to eat F&C at novena and then haagen daas! Thurs was swim day where I got annoyed with the lifeguard. Friday was running day. Saturday no ride cuz it rained, and so it was a good swim being able to do breastroke kicks without feeling like my legs cannot make it anymore.
The following week, Monday run, Tues swim, Wed swam with NUS swim team, Thurs cut hair, Friday slack, Sat rode and dint swim cuz I had my thing. Yummy pasta for lunch! Slurp!
And so it's this week, with a Monday training w bi team at NTU. Haven't been back for eternity and was kinda looking forward to it. Hall had a new coat of paint wheee! New furniture too can't wait! Wanted to tackle the hills but in the end we only did 199 route how sad. It turned out to be some sprint which made me quite sad cuz I wanted a long run with hills n more hills and I was sad I still can't keep up with the guys :( I wanna graduate to monster level! Train meeeeeeee
The pool water was the ultimate disgustingness where you couldnt even see more than a few meters in front of you. Plus it was so choppy cuz everyone doing long d so turning here and there created lots of waves. It was the ultimate sea swim. The water tasted salty too. I'm amazed none of us got like stomachache or something the next day. I left my goggles and cap in the toilet, only realising when I packed my bag the nxt morning. We ate dinner at pioneer mrt where we finished like 11+pm! And I reached home midnight!
Tues was ntu swim at acjc. Amazing so many ppl turned up! For once I wasn't the only girl bathing in the toilet on Tuesday nights. Yanni said something very true "at some point of time, u gotta start swimming breastroke" But it feels good to be able to kick so much these days without the feeling of bad legs :)
Did I mention I really like to swim at acjc. Besides the fact that I was very thankful for clear waters haha! Somehow seeing those little kids training hard there brings back SOME memories with some inspiration haha. I just like seeing the activity going on. And I certainly like the people. And am very grateful for our programmes. And just all in all feeling happy. Trainings r always bad for the health (latenights.org) but good for the soul haha.
Dinnered at someplace in the west. Really thanks to roderick for the many rides back constantly! No wonder I've been feeling sleepy during lunch time the past few days. Not enough sleep! Many thanks too to the random ppl who talk to me on msn during the afternoon haha.
Yesterday we had cream puff for tea break! YUMMmmmm. It was, yum :) And the day before had a slice of apple! Later will be milo tea break haha.
Yesterday I did a run which I was very happy with! If I can maintain that for ahm will be good. Will try out a plan! :)
And so, I'm contemplating if I should go down the join the swim team at the spore flyer tonight. Yes no yes no yes no yes noooo......... hmmmmmmmmmmm
Now, what is that about swimmers, more of the past present and uhh future?
Remind me never to run in slippers again, even if it's to get to ACJC pool as early as possible since work time ends the time training starts.
I'm so very very very slow that I was lapped by Songloo and Bud :( I knew my doom was imminent when the captain said: "Okay, 1km swim"
On a happier note, I somehow like swimming with them. 1) it made me really sprint. 50m going on 50s = crazy and I knew I would be touching and going already! But I felt good cuz I seem to have forgotten how to push. 2) I swam 3km, same like the others at the end! :)
Thanks to bro for fetching me home!
I've been wanting to eat curry recently. (Okay not so recent, since about one month already!) But haven't passed by a nice curry place or had the TIME to even eat a decent meal. And so I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up the phone on Monday and my Aunt was on the line and asked "want me cook curry tmr?" wahahhaha :)
And so I had curry for dinner!
Thank goodness sis decided not to ride this morning, and cuz of that I decided I'm nto too keen being adventurous and going by myself. So I reset my alarm to 7am. Thank goodness for I woke up to torrential rains at 5.30!
That's all for now.
(continued)
Coming back was much better, less traffic. Heading from Longhouse onto Thomson area and looking at the traffic opposite was simply appalling. Since I only had 1hr I turned after climbing the Lower Pierce hill and thankfully only had to face the traffic for 2 traffic lights before escaping to Bishan Park. I feel really great after riding. Like, high!
In the evening I was motivated to swim. Coincidentally leewei was going kallang basin pool too! So at least I had a friend for some part of the way. I'm really swimming very slowly now :( It's like I think something's wrong. I can't quite seem to grab the water or move past the water the way I used to. Trying hard to get the feel back. I WILL keep trying!
But apparently bro stole the bike. And so I decided to run to the pool and back. And my, I think I got a taste of what this Sunday is gonna be like and am feeling SCREWED :(
Wanted to wake up on Friday morning to run but decided against it for many reasons. 1) 4 consecutive training sessions is too much 2) my muscles were kinda complaining 3) the day's gonna be longggggg with no time to rest
And so Friday was normal work day, after which I walked around at vivo before getting picked up and eating a rotten apple, driving from east to west and to east and west again searching for the hotel for my cousin's wedding. Thank goodness Dolphine was in camp.
Food was pretty good. The service was pretty bad. It made me think about weddings. And how ours will be like. Sis said she's not gonna invite the uncles. Like no money. For me, I'll just say, not cuz no money, it's cuz u're NOT INVITED. Wahaha. And it's so ironic to get that uncle to be the emcee. Like seriously! Firstly, he didnt even know the bride's name. (!!!!!) And talking about what love and remembering this day etc etc. Like come on, you divorced your wife for goodness sake..........
And so, thinking about having to walk till idunnowhere to the van, and then having to squeeze with a bunch of idunnowhos and having to drop them off first, means we'll reach home like way past midnight. So sis and me decided it'll be faster to go home ourselves since vivo's pretty near home via NEL. Apparently we didnt know how to get to the tram and whether it's still working at 11+pm and since the taxis were out there, we just upped and cabbed home.
Family is so screwed. Why can't that uncle AND FAMILY just take a DAMN CAB HOME THEMSELVES. It's always charity ends at home for our case.
And so we reached back around 12midnight. With a lot a lot of thoughts about weddings and all. Like I'll consider asking lols if she wanna be my emcee hahahhahaha! And like I'll never ask that side to help. Never ever.
Anyway SATURDAY! saturday saturday :)
Late morning ride! Reached longhouse at 7am! Cassandra wasnt there :( So I was alone. Guess who I saw? haha.
So I joined joyriders and got dropped at the traffic light after the hill at Lower Pierce cuz I was in the middle of the pack and got caught by lights how sad :( So this girl talked to me. Pretty friendly bunch of ppl! Except tt it was pretty slow going in the beginning and rather frustrating.
At around Ponggol there the speed upped and I was cycling for my life not to get dropped. We were close to 40km/hr for one whole long stretch. I thought I was gonna die. And then I was so thankful when we actually caught up with the first pack! Imagine, that was how fast they were going!
I stayed around the back of the pack and I guess that was a wrong move. Any hills we met, I got dropped. But at least this time round I managed to hang on pretty long for about 50mins! So after awhile I was really tired and couldnt keep up chasing to join back again. And so got a little worried when I turned a corner and the pack was getting more and more out of sight, and as usual I seem to be the last of the pack and the slower ones behind me were nowhere to be seen. So I was worriedly looking back when this angmoh wearing a yellow long sleeve jersey came by and kinda reassured me I'm doing fine.
I'm so thankful for such nice ppl. He was the nicest rider I've ever met thus far. Cuz he pulled, just so I could keep up. Last week's rider was a i-pull-if-u-can-keep-up-good-for-u kind of thing. This week's was a i-pull-but-slow-down-if-u-can't-keep-up. Mann so nice :) So we talked abit, like really abit, cuz I was kinda panting and couldn't quite respond haHA. So after quite some pulling, we managed to catch up with the pack at around Tampines IKEA there. Thank goodness for the many traffic lights there! wahhaa.
Then it was this terrible consecutive hill climbing where I actually managed to not be last! But on the descending, we were caught by traffic lights :( So a group of about 8 to 10 of us cycled the rest of Changi village and down coastal all the way till ECP. Thankful for the orange jersey guy whose legs helped me survive coastal. I just stared at his calves. Like not taking my eyes off his calves. And just kept following. Pedal pedal pedal. Until towards the end he was like signalling me to go infront but I was quite desperate and panicking a little cuz I know without staring at those legs moving I wouldnt be able to carry on. But I had no choice anyway and tried to move on.
Thankfully the entry to ECP appeared not too long later and I cycled with the nice angmoh who was saying this is the best part, relaxing, and most scenic view. And we talked about triathlons and all. And how he said 'you should have no problem for the bike leg cuz u managed to keep up!' And although I was proud tt I really DID manage to, albeit the end of the pack, but still! Haha, but the bike leg is my most worrying leg.
But he was nice and saying how the sea swim 90% of it is in the mind. And giving tips and all :) He was really nice and I'm quite sad I didnt get to say bye!
And so I got to the end of Fort Rd where the bro picked me up and sent me to ACJC for a rather crowded swim training. It was pretty nice cuz it poured halfway! So, something more interesting than just swimming haha.
Couldn't join them for lunch at holland village cuz I had lesson at home with Rachel at 1pm. Coincidentally xianrong couldnt either, so it was us again at the mrt, heading home, having bread-talk. Like literally talking about the bakery again. HAHA.
Rachel 1-1.45pm, rushed down to pandan valley for weiling at 3-3.45pm, after which I went to Adam hawker to eat lunch/dinner. Decided to try the nasi lemak since no queue. It's either I'm very hungry cuz I only had 2 buns since 6am and after a 5hr+ of hard training, or the food is really good. Cuz the rice was heaven, the egg was yummy, the ikan billis woosh, the wings yUM and even the chilli! It was the best :) Since I had no cash left, I could only afford macs ice cream when everyone else were having island creamery :(
Church!
After which went back to pandan valley for one more lesson. And so I got to sit bus 7 passing through town for the first time this year! I miss bus 7 rides every sunday ever since I had to teach Hannah and Adel at JE.
Tired tired.
Next morning was wake up 6+ to get to pandan valley by 8am for first student. 8 students till 2pm. Squeezed them all so I could travel to Yishun SAFRA for abseil clinic for ATC. Where I met the rest of the team members. I must say sikwan and sam have very gay laughters but are full of nonsense. Are you scared 2 is our team name. And yes, even the team member is VERY scared actually haha!
Abseiling. The guy asked: how many of u nv wear a harness before. It's either they all nv put up their hands or I'm really a noob :(
I heard we gotta do alot of running. I'm screwed.
After the session I had a nice train journey back through the red line with lance. Ended up talking alot. But felt a little better cuz it was about work and how PA is going and what are my feelings towards work and the future which I've been thinking alot. And so it felt quite good to speak to someone abt it. I hope he wasn't like dying of boredom or something. But I was really thankful for the company and the listening ear.
Lesson with Hannah and Adel sometimes gets me very exasperated! But I try to think everytime I go there, I'm getting 50 bucks.
And so I reached home a half dead person.
Today's run gave me a heart attack.
And I really was very moody and moodless and grumpily gloomy.
I'm really the greatest joke of the year.
And I can't quite understand why :( :( :(
But I actually quite like the words lols msged. Thanks! :)
Lunch break = blogging session once again!
Time to update.
I was trying hard to remember what I did last Friday night. Actually we went to use sis' novena vouchers to eat Jap buffet at some curry house with mok sis mom. Full full full full full full. Some pretty nice curry (the nicest!) milkshake (slurp!) and nice tasting zi char stuffs. So full so full so full. The sis' bday dinner!
(continued)
I met some irritating guy and drafted him cuz I wanted to get as far out of ECP as possible cuz time was running short! But he was irritating cuz he tried to not let me draft him. Like whatever.............. So I ended up going by him.
Met sis in the middle of ECP and she sent me to ACJC for a very nice swim session with the IVP team. Thank goodness for Yanni's suggestion and for the paddles which saved me from dying.
We all had chao3 fan4 jia1 dan4 for lunch at the heritage cafe beside AC's pool. After which many thanks to the ride back from Yiming cuz I didn't bring my ez link card.
Slacked abit till 2pm lesson with Rachel. After which slacked more (tired larh, 6hr training!) till by the time I left, I was actually LATE! I didn't intend to really. So just nice, the train I would've taken was the same as lol's anw. So I met her on NEL and we headed to meet the other tjband-its at our usual BK at city hall and we da-bao-ed subway! Yum! Subway has become the official pre-concert dinner.
Practically my whole batch went! Those who were in Spore that is. I shall leave Prelude 29's blogging to another day. After concert, we headed to find a place to chill which of course on a saturday night at city hall, trying to find a place for about 15 ppl is actually quite impossible. So we ended up at YaKun kaya toast, with me eating my subway cookie there.
Reached home late late and there goes the morning ride.
Sunday = Sis' bday! (HAPPY BIRTHDAY!), TNP article for her bday present, (haha!) and9.30am to 8.30pm. Thanks to ttk for the ride home. We wanted to go Island Creamery eat ice cream BUT when we reached Adam it rained and so to turn around we headed west and the rain stopped, and on our way back it rained at the exact same place. Really, not meant to eat ice cream there. But it was pretty cool travelling into and out of rain clouds. Amazing haha. Ate McFlurry in the end haa!
Monday's run was dismissed and instead headed to Manhatten Fish at Central (Clarke Quay) to use up the cash vouchers! I pretty much like that place actually! It's a cosy and nice place! And I think I'm quite in love with milk shakes. Chocolate ones that is. So I've got another 9bucks cash voucher again. Enough to go there for a free milkshake! wahhaa.
However, remind me never to skip a training session again please.
Oh I gotta mention about my workplace ppl. That's for another entry another day haa.
Tuesday, I went to Tuas for external audit where I had like the cheapest cai4 fan4 ever. 3 bucks for a mountain of rice, cabbage, big mushrooms (which I didn't eat), fried pork chops, black sauce chicken, and egg. I was so full but stuffed myself anw since had training at ACJC later. And it lasted me such that even when I reached home at 9+ my stomach had yet to growl. We finished at 5.30 and I was dropped off at Joo Kun at 5.35! Amazing!
Thanks to Wilson and Rod for waiting for me at Buona Vista so I learnt how to get to ACJC from mrt. We reached abt 6.20! And I died for our sets of 3x400m. So lousy can. I mean I used to do 4x400m with MUCH beter timings :( Thanks to songloo for the lift to the mrt. I always feel that u can tell quite abit about a person looking at how they drive. That, is another topic for another day haa.
Had xianrong's company till outram and I found out his aunt runs the bakery which has been at my house since like forever! Singapore is REALLY small! I had this and that for dinner. (=buns/weetbix/orange/banana/cereal, some of them)
Wednesday was Tuas again and I ate a bowlful of salt (a VERY salty hor fun) again with gigantic portions of everything. Amazing canteen. I had to climb onto chairs to get to the payment voucher files! Home sweet home for the 1hr run of the week. After which I had this and that for dinner again.
Thursday morning I went for my morning ride alone at 6.15am! Did the usual, heading from MacRitchie up to Lornie Rd. Traffic was rather heavy with not so friendly drivers honking at me and so had hard time trying to get onto the right lanes :(
(lunch time over! to be continued)
