I did my run on Monday. Nice route, nice time to run!
Tuesday was a happening day. The lady boss came back from Korea and so we had a staff meeting in the morning which is actually just a let's-get-together-and-eat-yummy-free-food-for-breakfast kinda thing.
China ppl. What's the big deal. Just cuz you're from RJ and so on...... Like whatever..........
And in the afternoon, I headed over with a snr staff to a logistics company in changi to do external audit. Actually, I'd rather stay in the office n do audit! But it was cool, to be able to sit a cab everywhere, and the thing is we went by ECP, through changi coastal, exactly the same place I cycle on saturday. And it's then I realise how loooonnnnnggggg the route actually is!
The amount of invoices and payment vouchers and the size of the ledger! wooohoooo. Cupboards and cupboards! Makes you appreciate the documents in the office cuz they're so few.
The sad thing was I reached back late. Late. Like very late. But still I had a good swim! :) Must be the bananas!
Wednesday was a day where I left office at 6.30 voluntarily! Okay not quite so voluntarily. Just to finish the report! And generate nice looking financial statements using the accounting software. Screw those numbers!
As a result, no time to run, and decided to cycle on trainer instead but gave up after chopped up cycling of 40mins and fell asleep at 8.40pm.
Today was another day of keying in trial balances, trying to BALANCE. Screw those numbers. And those freaking companies! With weird stuffs n so on.... URGH! I left office 10mins after 6, with it mostlyyyyyy balanced. We're both having the same problems! To think I gotta face that tmr! URGHhh....
I somehow knew it wouldn't rain but was just to lazy to move my butt to the pool and so I did terrible sets of stretchcords and I'll go sleep soon.
No mood to do anything much....................
The lady from China simply loves to talk, ALOT. I've nothing much against her but just, she reallyyyyy talks alot. And hearing her stories of her flat-mates etc etc..... China ppl.... tsk!
Already Singaporeans are ungracious and rude enough. To have such an influx of self-centered ppl who just wanna get to the top regardless of anything else, I really wonder what'll happen to little Singapore. Drowning under the additions of all these assholes.
Sitting in the office with an early lunch break today.
I'm still sleepy although I slept really soundly but just auto woke up at like 6.45am.
Rain rain rain rain rain.
The best time to rain is in the afternoon.
Cuz it's usually too hot and skin-cancerous to do anything.
Hopefully the pavments are dry later in the evening for it's running time.
I'm turning into a blob cuz I haven't ran for more than a week.
I don't quite have an aim and I don't quite know what I'm doing.
Just training to shag myself out?
I really really really hope Sat's training is not at 9am.
I really really like Sat morning rides.
And even if it's IVP training (never once pon-ed), I dunno.
I don't quite so feel like IVP swimming anymore.
Such a struggle.
Many many many many many reasons.
Should I? Can I? Would I?
I'm just rambling on seriously.
Cuz it's boring here in the office.
And the vouching work on my table is failing in getting my attention.
This morning, I had a sudden urge to get out of S'pore.
Netherlands would be nice.
IF only everyone else was going :(
Cleats!
I want OUT!
Reached home, and after taking a look at my face, mom asked "Why what's wrong? Tired?"
My response "of course who wouldn't be!"
Truth is, I'm totally exhuasted, it's my bedtime, but I still feel the need to sit here and blog about everything, just to 'pen' it all down. Partly so that life would be a little easier to do the report for PA? Haha.
So on Monday, I learnt how to do statutory audit. And since the first example I was given was easier than Ouyang's one (my fellow NTU intern) I completed it earlier and was given, uhhh more. And at the end of the day, I got like ALL the stat audits........... the other audit supervisor, Maggie, is kinda scary haha. I think I've like done work for ALL of them before except HuiHui who took on Ouyang for the real audit since I was like stuck doing stat audit. The boss gave us a veryyy long talk. I was never so happy to get out of that place.
Tuesday, we learnt how to prepare files, did some files and more stat audits. I like my sitting place, it's like private and reminds me of my table in TJ staff room. I do miss that place! :) Learnt how to do permanent audit file also. Came home to swim.
Wednesday. More of the same, stat audits, and files. It was funny when we lunched with Su Juan, the secretary, she asked me how old am I, and when I told her 20, she laughted, cuz she thought I was like 17.................. Rushed off to meet Kenneth SW for dinner at bedok! Ban mian! :) Then to TJ band room for a mini prac. Grateful for ter ho for taking on the job of conducting which I felt was not bad except I missed the oboe sound haha. NEEMOSUPREMO! Good to see her again after months of her being in MEXICO! Haha :) Macs after that and cabbed home! Like reached home at 11+++
Thursday, failed attempt to cycle at 6am in the morning... After waking up for 15mins, I went back to sleep. After work, dashed home to cycle for 40mins on the trainer before heading to the swimming pool! Terrible sets. It's getting such a struggle sigh :(
Friday. Woke up at like 6+ automatically. Rushed off after work (like sprint) to get subway, and then to reach esplanade library BY 6.35PM! Amazing isnt it! I miss music.
Ate outside esplanade with ttk. And then watched some little performance at esplanade foyer at 7.15pm, before heading up to the full-house concert by Boris Berezovsky. Debussy's Images was for the first half. Interesting song with really LUSCIOUS oboe sound by pan yun! (recalls the days of lessons from him in Schubert room in tkgs) Rachmaninov's piano concerto no. 3! I bought the tix like more than 1 month in advance. It was, amazing :) :) :) Life! :) :) :) He's like a giant. He encored like 3 times, and got a standing ovation and he had to drag the concert master off the stage to signal the end of the concert HAHA! He's damn cute.
Rushed home from concert to sleep early!
Saturday morning woke up at 5.45am to meet yuankai at longhouse at 6.30 although I reached late oops. We reached ECP only at around 7.10am, to meet Junyang. We cycled Changi coastal. Saw the NUS guys running, josh lemin jason yip. Junyang said they'll be here while the rest went Sentosa train. That's why they weren't riding. We stopped by Changi Village and met the OCBC guys.
The ride back was rather nice xiong. we went like 37km/hr? For like almost the entire stretch. I secretly almost wanted to die but was trying my best to keep up. Some cyclists are cool ppl. And I think Junyang is one of them hhaa. Thanks to him really, for pulling like most of the way and at pace which is kinda cool. And thanks for yuankai for like helping me cut lanes at bendemeer there. I was seriously quite scared. But I think sat's ride was quite bad in the sense that Reckless behaved well but I was a bad cyclist :( About 82km in total approximately? Considering my cateye's quite crazy.
The OCBC guys zoomed by while we were on ECP! And I did NOT knock over any pedastrians contrary to what they said haha. But it was sooooo close. Almost! Any cm nearer I think I would have!
Came home and did Marilyn's bday card while cooling down, before bathing and rushing off to vivo to find a suitable present before meeting Hanjie and her to try out the Queen and the Mangosteen at vivo. Very cute and interesting place but it costs a BOMB! But it was fun to meet up! :) So coincidentally saw the NUS guys AGAIN at vivo!
Then rushed off back to Potong Pasir mrt for bro to pick me up to head to the stupid house warming. Where attendance was compulsory. I found a violin there! Much to my delight! :) :) :) And I found piano books (a treasure) under the piano stool! So I was well entertained till I was late for church and cabbed down........... After church headed back home for piano lesson at 8pm after which when lesson ended and I ate my daily dosage of fruits, I really KO-ed. Haven't been sleeping really well these days. Keep waking up. But I really KO-ed last night. And only woke up when my alarm rang at 5.45am again.
So I went for my morning cycle part 2. Alone. Cycled to Adam Rd, back via the flyover, past Longhouse, through lower pierce, till Mandai before turning round, and heading back through Bishan Park. A route which I'm getting pretty familiar. I still die at hills. But I wanna be better! So I'm gonna try the hills more. It's really cool to see the whole pack of joyriders going by opposite when I'm heading back! :) It's damn cool :) Total of about 30++km.
Came home and had to rush off to pandan valley. Such that I had no time to buy my lunch of mee fen from downstairs my house. And after paying for student no.3's book (she had no money to repay) I realise I only had 90cents left! Which means no money to buy lunch! And all I had was a bun at 6am, and okay I took a bar from home n ate it before lesson at 9.30am. and still had one apple left. But stilllll considering I didn't eat dinner the day before and meals were weird. Thank goodness, I used the manuscript book for hannah, the student just before lunch and with the $1.50 it costs, I had enough to buy lunch with 10cents to spare. Really amazing, if God can feed the birds of the air, I'm really well taken care of too :)
So I really wanted to die the entire day. And am so tired of rushing from point A to B to C such that I really just walked home slowly today. Like who cares about catching connecting trains and all.
13 students completed!
Alright I'm done. Here's to another week ahead! (of running off at 6pm haha)
Thursday was another swim and run day. Somehow just didn't have the strength to do anything, and the exact same 9.2km JOG turned out 15mins slower than the same one I did on Monday. That was how I was simply crawling.
Friday. Rain in the later part of the morning (9+) postponed my swim to 11+ and when the sun came out at 12+ I ended up cutting short my planned programme by 500m! The swim was much much better. 4th day of week doing 10x100m and surprisingly the timings clocked were much more encouraging than the past few days. It took me one whole week!
In the evening I went to meet up with the oboe seniors. Vivien Yiling Yanru Jiajia and got to know Cecilia, who's j1 when I'm sec1. Somehow, I dunno, felt so long ago. Like, these were the exact same ppl I had the company of in 2001! That's like 8 years ago. Pretty ancient. MOF at Suntec. We tried out alot of exotic and different flavoured gelato. And Cecilia is so interesting I think I could look at her all day! It's like, I can just imagine I'm still in tkgs.
Saturday's ride a failure simply because it RAINED :( I was so sad. For many reasons. Firstly cuz sis came back from the Tour, means at least this weekend ride slowly would be good. So for once she can ride slowly with me! Secondly, there was to be the company of perhaps many! Such like yuankai mok and the sis zhiyun? So cool to ride with them even if I get dropped after say 30mins or something. Actually there's one more reason, but let's not say it here haha.
So I went to meet Rod Songloo Xianrong n Suechee at Taka to spend the taka voucher from swim fest! Ended up using it to buy a $19 pair of shoes for work. I was looking for one anyway! Just nice....
Oh I gotta mention that dinner was the yummiest dinner on earth: Porridge and black sauce meat! YUMMMMM
Sunday left me totally exhausted when I got back at like 9.45pm!
THIRTY NINE MORE DAYS. And counting, down.
Stupid cab driver laughed at me. I was so totally annoyed with the situation already I didn't even bother about him. The meter didn't even move a cent hAA.
Exhausting.
Wish this is over. The sooner, the better :(
I think, Sundays of 9.30-6pm / 7-8.30pm is gonna fly by much faster from now onwards. I'd rather teach piano for the rest of my life.
I am pretty depressed and am already missing the outdoors.
And I think I just completed the happiest week of my life when the Sunday to the Sunday seemed like forever.
I can't believe I'm gonna be wasting the nxt 8 weeks of my life, wishing time would faster fly by.
I can't help but um-chio when I listen to their recording. It's so tj, lovely, how the lines just fit in like THAT :)
Although you gotta admit that it isn't the neatest of things. But doesn't everything balance out the scores at the end :(
But I really really really really don't hear a silver at ALL :'( Who can play such a slow part with suchhhhh ensemble sound. Oh my goodness. Recordings don't lie right? As much as we keep saying, maybe the sound on top where the judges are sound different.
SO many bands their weaknesses during the slow ensemble exposed parts were like ............ How can this be a silver sound. Seriously, how can :(
http://www.mediafire.com/?tmmm54dtzyt
Go load it yourself, and let your ears do the judging yourself.
:'(
Only Lin Sheng can make the parts in Extreme Makeover fit like THAT.
Went back to TJ for the first time this year. I miss that place :) Travelled with the band to Republic Poly on the SMRT chartered bus we always take. It started to get scary when they were about to enter the tuning room area.
Afternoon session started of with Millenia Institute. Since I've yet to hear the set piece before and it's been sometime since I'm in the band scene, I was thinking I don't quite know how to judge and form opinions. After them, was TJ. The difference was totally obvious.
It's the sweet sweet TJ sound. (But that might just be my biased opinion) Although their tuning chord wasn't impressive. I was very impressed with their Extreme Makeover. Reallyy impressed. I really thought they deserved honours then. After listening to extreme makeover a few times before of the professional band and trying to like it, I thought I really wouldnt like that piece. After their performance today, I fell in love with that song. Form your own opinion of what that might mean.
ACJC after that. Neat but very harsh. Like ouch. RJC was not bad. Their choice piece was a Japanese piece which really kinda brought you back to Japan kind of era and reminded me alot of Impressions of Japan. But it was kinda boring actually. Sighhh perhaps my biased opinion. Pioneer JC didnt know they were conducted by Ms Chan, so I was expected something decent when I heard it's her. It was okay also. Actually I think all the bands were pretty decent. But TJ definitely didnt deserve a silver :(
It was like idunno..... When it was the same announcer who announced our results, 4 years ago. (The one who conducted us for NIE band, and to be nice, I shan't comment on his conducting)
It didn't quite sink in till we went down to see the band and they were all crying like............ and just standing there, and talking a little bit to mj, talk talk talk, den I suddenly almost cried. And it didn't help tt some other alumni did. It's obvious that the band felt the disappointment the most, since it's tHEY who put in all those many hours of practise. THEY who went on stage to play their hearts out. THEY who did it as one band.
But, it's really something else, when grown men, tear. And they were trying not to show it. Sigh. I guess I still have feelings. Was thinking I seem to be quite numb for some time I dunno why. But I also wanted to tear many times, like the feeling just overwhelming. I guess those snrs teared when it was too much and it just came out. I think it's just pure pure disappointment. Over the way the judges gave their verdict. And how they really don't deserve it. It's too much really :(
I'm glad with all my heart that I stayed with the band the entire way and heard what the comm said, what Ms Chew said, and most importantly, what Lin Sheng said. I realise during my TJ years, our comps went well. And so, I think I really learnt alot, and was touched alot, by what Lin Sheng shared. I hope I remember that moment and his words forever. And how I totally agree with what Ms Chew said, that he's the best in Singapore. Lin Sheng rocks.
I was never so proud of them after extreme ended.
And on a happier note, I'm looking forward to hearing their extreme one more time during prelude. Twenty nine! I think listening to tj band concerts does my heart a whole load of good. Prelude is ranked as THE concert of the year for me :)
I'm listening to extreme alot now. I initially thought this song was full of noise and so irritating. Until listening to tjband today.
Really touching how after so many batches, we all still talk abt the tjband magic. And how, forever, tjband is LOVE :)
Ms Choo is pregnant! And so sad the fishball stall was close today, of all days! Since I'm eating lunCH at tj (and not dinner) since a very long time, I ate the chicken laksa green bowl stall. And the aunty remembers me!!!!! And she asked about ttk also HAHA! And she was reminscing how time moves so fast! It's been 2 years.
And I think I've two totally opposite parents. The dad cares so much for friends at the expense of family. To the extent it's irritating. The mom cares so much for the family, like the whole world revolves around us and everyone else should be doing things for our convenience. To the extent it's irritating. Weird.
Alright, off to the airport to pick up the winner of Egat's Tour of Friendship! Wahahha. Congrats to the powerful monster sis!
Yesterday when I ran by SAJC I was suspecting to hear band sounds unless they were having combine. Apparently clarinets were having sectionals just nearby the canteen area so I could hear them, VERY loudly, and trying to figure out what song they're playing. Somehow it vaguely sounded abit like el cam and so I started singing tt song on my way back. Altho I don't quite remember there being such a exact part, the rhythm of the running notes just made me think of el cam. But was thinking it might be the set piece. So imagine my suprise when today I asked the others what's SA playing and they said EL CAMINO REAL!
Woke up early and reached the pool about 8am. Completed what I set out to do with the peanut butter bun and terribly slow 10x100s and impossible 50m fly!
White sands! Haven't been there for so long. And seeing tj/vj/mj ppl around made me look twice, like 'ehh what're u doing here', before realising I'm in the east and it's common to see them around!
Kayaking at pasir ris park! Waited forever for the bus. And we walked all the way to the Holiday Flats/Camp back gate, only to be told by a sign that since there's swine flu, gotta enter by front to take temperature and so we had to walk the entire way out and back in under the hot blazing sun. After reaching and taking temperature, apparently you can't rent from there, so we had to go all the way back to water venture where they gave us the water cross number to call.
While waiting for the guy to come, we played frisbee!
The guy was very nice! Well worth it! Next time anybody wanna kayak, please to go Water Cross at Pasir Ris Park! We were charged $15 per double seater kayak for like 2hrs and he was willing to let us go one more round out and back! Thanks Edmund for being a very nice partner. Like have motor behind me lidat. Slacked alot but the kayak still moving v fast! The only sad thing was when we swopped places, HE CANT TELL WHETHER I'M PADDLING ANOT! Terrible.................
It was fun though :) Didn't quite like it in the beginning, but after awhile I started to enjoy :)
Manhatten Fish Market for dinner for starving souls who hardly ate the entire day and then PS Gelare!
Nice good company with the band ppl. Considering ppl like pon trainings and took leave from work!
Well, it's the 5th of May! 4 years ago we screamed our hearts out at SCH when he went "band number fifteen, band number fifteen, [extremely long pause till the whole hall was quiet], gold..... with honours"
:)
It's the juniors' turn tmr! All the very best tjband! Whatever the results, I won't miss it if I'm free to go down, cuz some things will just have this place in my heart, and it's my choice to prioritise :)
SUNDAYS! Come and go with 13 students. These few weeks, lessons are more relaxed and fun since it's the mid-year exams for the kids, so I'm letting them come to lessons with less stress and just to play!
Almost puked out peanut butter bun in the pool three times.
I have this perception since young that there're two things I simply can't do. 1) Kick butterfly at a decent speed 2) Buzz (to play brass instrus)
Today's 10x100m almost killed me. That's how lousy I've become. OH NO :( But on a happier note, swimming 100m IMs are rather fun. But I couldn't seem to swim backwards straight for nuts today. Was happy with my 200m breastroke timing though. Considering I haven't done that for like forever! (since IVP last year!)
It feels so different to cycle on a mountain bike. But I felt so much more comfortable cycling on the road than on the pavement! And it took me some time to get used to turning the bike confidently instead of always afraid to jerk my hands. AND most of all, how nice to be able to turn my head back to check out the traffic without ending up turning a mini semi-circle in the process.
Came home to play my clarinet all the old band songs. For the whole afternoon.
And went to run my 9.2km normal route in the evening. I reached the end of bishan park with a veryyy surprising timing! So I tried to do my best to run all the way back faster, and clocked a 50.38!! When my usual is like ~56. And I've done a 1hr3min for that same route before! But I wasn't held up at the traffic lights either way today :)
But I'm tired!
Oh, on a happier note, I finished my 3 sets for statics. So yay! But my core is so weak.
I'm getting to hear a Rachmaninoff piano concerto no. 3 live next friday! Very excited! Altho I still prefer no. 2 any day! :) It's reallllllyyyyyy nice. The kind of nice which makes your insides soar in another land. Just like some band songs.
Goodnight.
Week 1 of post-exam activities!
On Sunday did a ride down to Adam Rd to meet sis and she brought me on a half Mandai loop. I was back in 1hr15min. So fast!
Monday ate a super full late lunch with sis n mok at novena fish n co! yummmmmy! Swam w leewei in the evening but didn't run. Lazy me!
Tuesday swam in the morning w suechee rod hM ben! Was a happy girl cuz I stayed in the water for realllllyyy long :) great weather! Went for dinner w ttk at crystal jade. So full. Came back n tackled 2 rounds of ntu w rod. Packed stuffs till pretty late at night.
Wednesday, tried to swim for half an hr only before it poured. I was with sis so I drove her in the van to NIE for her talk before driving back (on my own!) and parking at our hall! Hmmm I took a few tries but it was perfect parking! Will upload pics nxt time haha. Lunch at NIE. Grilled fish is very nice. I'll eat it next time!
We shifted the fridge all on our own! Although yarh larh sis was doing most of the work haha. Shifted everything in record time! (we were kinda rushed for time also) Never sweated so much before! Pouring sweat...... By the time I reached back, it was 6pm. Went for a 199 route-cum-check-out-the-small-park run. But half way I really wanted to go toilet. So I ran away to the toilet back in hall n thought I was gonna explode cuz I felt I was radiating so much heat! Gave the swim a miss cuz it was pretty late. What a tiring day.
Thursday rained in the morning so went to swim w sue n rod n leewei only later in the morn. IMs are getting not as scary as they used to be :) Sis came to pick me and I drove the van to SSC! So scary. Home in the evening where I just ended up packing all my stuffs at home and sleeping early.
Friday, met leewei at 7.15am at my hse n we cycled to bedok jetty to meet rod and then cycled thru the city to botanic gardens to say hi to the rest of the bi team! It was good to see them :) altho i'll never cycle thru town again. So scary. Thank goodness for rod leading the way. Felt alot safer haHA.
Botanic gardens was nice, with the lilypads!!
Found my way back to adam road and cycled back via macritchie. Really fun! travelling up to 40km/hr (i think cuz my cateye is abit crazy) up and down the slopes of lornie road. And then the big big slope downwards at macritchie outside! Woooosh! shoik-est part of yesterday's ride :)
Came back and sis came back not long after. Headed off to pick dad, pick cassandra, lunch at balestier, then to mok's hse, then airport, where the problem with the tix, thus they only entered like 40mins before the plane left. Haha!
Met hM and edmund at airport! Ate hM's muffins in the staff canteen while the others ate. After loitering around awhile, (swine flu!) went back via bus which took, uh rather long. Reached home like 5.30+ and went for my usual 9.2km run. I dunno what was wrong with my right foot (already weird tt day) but it got quite bad and I almost wanted to turn around. But I just went slow, relaxed and tried to not put too much pressure on it. In the end, it became better and I finished in good timing, considering I was held up at the traffic light and I sat down a bit to take off my shoe n massage my poor pain foot! :) And nobody ran by me, only cyclists!
Was somehow really exhausted and only did 2 sets of statics. Before I went to sleep early.
Woke up this morning, and saw the clouds were rather scary, lightning also, and dearest NEA's weather forecast for nxt 3 hrs said showers with thunder. everywhere. So I decided not to ride, (not to keen to join them either) and went back to a choppy sleep where I woke up every hour. But only decided to wake up at 11+. So all in all, I spent the whole morning sleeping!
Hope it doesn't rain later. Wanna do a short ride after my piano lesson!
Time to read the books I borrowed from rod and to plan my training programme.
ALL THE BEST TO THE SIS FOR TOUR OF FRIENDSHIP! hope she kicks ass and doesnt fall down!
happy birthday xiangting! :) and dad
