I wanted to blog yesterday about the morning ride. Okay, yes I did but never got around to finishing and posting it. So backtrack a little to........
Mr Macho Winds!
Did I mention how much I detest riding out from Hall 15 at 5.25am? C-O-L-D! For once I was thankful for having a bag to carry. A little warmth, better than none! The sis pulled against the strong headwinds at Pandan Reservoir AND the monster hills at NUS (they are to me!) didnt feel THAT bad this week. Despite the little break at Sheares Hall, I still reached Longhouse early!
It was a pretty small group. MUCH neater riding this week. The guys weren't exactly good riders. The winds were pretty cold and strong! Sengkang headwinds. This girl (whom I blogged about on last sunday's ride) pulled! Tsk tsk guys uhhh! Hehe. Okay, I'm equally bad cuz I was just hiding again.
It was pretty okay most of the way so I thought of going harder at coastal! I think everyone was preparing to as well. The first signs of pain was at the Downtown East traffic light. I thought I'd check it out when I reach home.
Then, at the stretch just before hitting coastal, I was on the outer side. Suddenly, this SHARPPPPPP pain in my right knee left me stunned. I tried to go on, OUCH. So I left-legged wheeled for a few seconds and touched the pain area, BAD MISTAKE. The touch caused suCH sharp pain. The gap to the person in front of me grew and I tried and tried to pedal but it was SOooooooo pain I really couldn't take it so I swung out and heaved a BIGggggg sigh as the group got further and further :( :(
But it was so pain, just moving downwards was OUCHHHHhh :(
So I wheeled to the pavement at the traffic light, and emergency called the sis who didn't pick up! Being stranded at the furthest end from home (coastal!) I was NOT INTENDING to cab at all. So I decided to one-legged pedal. Initially even with the right leg going along for the ride (just so to balance the left) it HURT. But after some time it got better. But when I started to use even a littleeee force from the right, it protested.
So, one legged cycling it was, along coastal! Thank goodness for FULL TAILWINDS. Such that amazingly even with a left leg only, I was going 26-30! Imagine! I was sooooo thankful to be even moving along coastal!
With suggestions from the sis, I stopped for an attempted massage at the start of ECP. Which actually didnt help in the end.
So I just one-leggedly crawled home. Later, the right could pedal for <5s. At least better than nothing.
I was sooooo sad the ride went just like that! :(
Home, with the sis giving a long massage which left me writhing in PAIN! I was soooooooooo sweaty after that..... BUT I'm thankful I get free massages hehehe
Okay, while bathing just now, my pain threshold level increased five fold. It was a grit-your-teeth-and-endure-so-that-if-you-fall-into-longkangs-again-next-time-and-you-have-gaping-wounds-it-won't-be-pain-at-all kinda thing.
Screw the raw skin.
On a happier note, it's time to RIDE AWAY THE FATS tmr morning with the sister! :)
Thinking about how the Jambion went "Yes!" this morning, makes the smile just MAGNIFY! Hehe :)
