Howdy my friends! It's a brand new day with a BADLY aching butt and legs which crumbled when I attempted to run down the stairs!
I woke up at 4.30am. That's after sleeping at 10pm, and waking up at 2, then 3, then 4, then beepbeep! The sister's blanket is really powerful. You can sleep through ANYTHING with that! The fan was on (power 2) to dry the jersey and tights, and the aircon was on at full fan power! Aircon is necessary so that the air outside will be relatively warmer and I'll be able to ride without freezing!
BUT I still froze anyway. Cold cold cold! I hate the stretch coming out from my hall! Really cold! But riding at that time is the only time I can zoom down and do the left turn without braking!
Thanks to the sis for the ride back to Thomson! I'm so amazed how she can cycle so fast really! So steady steady against all the strong wind and I just hide behind hehe.
Had a 15mins break till 6.40am. I spent the time looking at the different bikes ppl had! It was very confusing today. Joyce wasn't around. So anyway I set off a little behind the main fast group of 5-6 ppl? Most of the ppl were still behind. So it was like stragglers in between. So I was spinning. Then they didnt turn into Lower Pierce. Hmmmmmm. I thought maybe the group in front wanted to go west. So anyway I went straight too.
And stopped at the right turn to YCK. Waited to see if others will go by. The main pack went by, straight. HMMMMMM. Where IS everybody going to?!?! Then I waited a little more. Somebody came by and was saying JR going straight today but still heading to Changi. So...... OKAY! I joined the next small group passing by with 2 angmohs leading the way. They seemed like pretty strong riders so it should be fine! So we caught up with another small group in front. (Very slow)
Then, the whole group turned left to Lower Seletar. Except the 2 leading angmohs. They were like unsure to go straight or turn with the group. They remained, the rest turned, I turned. And cuz they were ALL so slow, I overtook the whole line of straggly stragglers, and saw in front, everybody turn left into Mandai.
OKAY! That was it. NO WAY am I going back to the West thank you! So............. I took a right turn onto Mandai, via the way Jiwen and the sis brought me on my bday ride, say, TWO MONTHS ago! SO...... I just spinned my entire way on my own! Hoping I wouldn't get lost. Well, I thought Singapore's rather small. And if I headed in that general direction, I'd probably end up somewhere familiar! Worse come to worse I can always go-stun. Or, ask ppl or something.
So I just headed straight straight straight straight, thinking how nice the sky actually is! and then...................
WOW!
At the Idunnowhich body of water, (Seletar isit?) I caught the MOST AMAZING SUNRISE! Okay, the sky doesn't just get bright. The sun DOES rise! It was so lovely. I actually STOPPED to take a pic. But the hp didnt capture it nicely. What a wonderful day! Blue skies, WISPY clouds, reddish-orange sun turning the few pieces of clouds around it most amazingly lovely! Ahhhhhhhhh...... It was the EXACT moment when the sun was RISING above the treetops. My my my :) :) :) :) There you go! Sunrise spot :)
The sun will come out, tomorrowwwww :) :)
So I continued on, spinning spinning spinning! It wasn't WINDY windy windy like my failed attempt to ride that day. So I was happy and I seem to take the right turns cuz it looks familiar from that 2 months ago!
It was all going fine, UNTIL............... I saw the sign Jalan Kayu, Sengkang etc... Okay this looks like SK! TURN! Then.......... Uh oh....... This IS Sengkang....... but..................
I kid you not (hehe) I went for a Tour de Sengkang. I'm pretty sure I cycled the ENTIRE round. Punggol Rd, Punggol Rd, get me to Punggol! Then, suddenly I appeared at Punggol, and the signs went Punggol Dr, Punggol this Punggol that. And I recalled the other time I got lost here. So..... TO THE MRT! Punggol Central! And from there, followed JR route! Yayyyyy.
I TRIED to look at the road signs from there on, so if next time I got lost, I can get there instead of going by Punggol MRT. BUT, all I saw were..... more of the same. Punggol this and that, Sengkang East Ave (which I saw a lot while going round in Sengkang) So I gave up. I took the short cut to Tampines. It was almost 2hrs then and I was thinking of heading home via NEL. BUT decided to go on! Pretty lovely day.
Old Tampines Road. It's like, after the cars are done with using the roads, they become cycling roads! Old Choa Chu Kang Road. Old Lim Chu Kang Road..... etc...
I had a pretty good ride I must say! All the way till the double climb with the left turn! Almost caught up with this pair. Then they zoomed off. Thanks to the traffic light at Changi Village (I like that one a lot) I really DID catch up and stayed behind all the way. Thank goodness mann. Didn't fancy doing Coastal alone! So I big-geared and cruised along that stretch. It was pretty relaxing!
At ECP it was back to spinning. And I rode inside! I like yay. I crossed the road nicely at Nicoll Highway area! And the Aljunied Macpherson Senett stretch was surprisingly short today!
Home sweet home. After 4hrs out, but 3half hrs riding time according to the cateye. 99.38km. But I do believe I did 100! Cuz it doesn't work at times!
Now the legs are really bad. And the trigger ball's in school! Hmmmmmm
Sleeeeppppyyyyyyyyyy
And so, I decided, I'll never take the dark chocolate from the chocolate box again.
I am very sorry :(
