Swimming with the Bees (and the Buzz)

Why does my body feel like it's been through war and back?
And so yesterday was one exciting/busy day with cycling, french, preparing the letter and sending it off! No time to take a breather at all till night!
Training was cool with Michel, Mr. Netherlands National Swimmer, who does 50m free in 23s+. Is that mad or mad? No wonder everyone was talking about him. His drills were pretty simple, yet establishing the high elbow point which sis made me do sometime ago. So it was really good to start off doing those drills. Especially since I havent hit the waters for quite some days.
It made the subsequent main set much much easier!
Except for the bees part! They said it's bee season. (There were about 20-30 bees on Monday apparently!) I say it's cuz of the new swimming pool lights! Just a few days ago, I saw it during my afternoon swim and the thought that flies might come cuz it was so low. ANYWAY, we've had situations of bee stingings! So freaky!
And so, I found out that I seem to be able to spot bees much easier than others! Like, I SEE THEM in the middle of the pool! ANd the rest will be like "where where?" I think it's honed in me, since the days of swimming with so many of them flies way back in p6!
Mr TXR had bLUEBERRY PIE this week! But............. since he loves it, all will go into his tummy and none for me :( Hehe. But I think I prefer APPLIE pie :)
TODAY, in the morning, I read JonMa's note on facebook. And so, I decided to try out their training programme for the lack of having another one to do. It was long, and so I cut my warm up to only 300m when usually it's 800m. The weather was perfect though! Cloudy all the way!
So, I swam till I thought my arms were gonna drop! Like, seriously. AND the worse thing is, I didn't even finish the sets! The last one I changed to drills instead. So I did a combi of what Michel made us do which I felt was good for me. And some TI, to get the water feel. Total mileage of >4km so I'm pretty happy.
It's way more than what I usually do. Especially that like 85% was main sets/intervals. The thought that the sis is out there doing ride #2 of the day, and the Jambion out there making the wheels going round and round, kept me a little more sane. JonMa's note about how when you reach a certain point, fighter or a quitter? You know, I think I know it, that I'll quit. I think I have it in me to keep going, to make me be above-average. But when it comes to the make or break point, I'm quite sure I'll break. And that's the difference between a National athelete / being a Jambion!
But I'm just doing it for love. Come what may, I'll just enjoy :) Anything else, is a bonus!
Hmmm. Now why does this sound so familiar? I guess it's the same concept, applicable to sports too! Hmmmmm......
It struck me during warm up, about how I used to say to others, the secret to floating in the pool is to be one with the water. Make friends with the water! (ANd Pingwei will look at me like I'm mad) But to me, it really IS that way. And then, I was wondering why the part about sending the bees love in the Secret Life of Bees book sounds so familiar.. Hmmmmmmm.... Food for thought.
Okay, off to nap!
Here's a little friend for everyone to say hi to!
